Food Security Program

On a monthly basis, some community members are eligible to have food parcels delivered to their homes.  This program ensures that those individuals on antiretroviral therapy are able to meet their nutritional requirements essential to the success of their treatment. Additionally, it ensures that community members who are chronically ill, or who are unable to earn an income are still able to meet the basic nutritional needs for themselves and their families.

The Dududu Drop-In Centre also has a small but prosperous community garden, where spinach, cabbage, carrotts, and other vegetables are grown for sale to the community, and to complement the food parcel and OVC feeding programs.  We work closely with South Africa's environmental champion, Food and Trees for Africa, to implement sound permacultural practices that enhance soil quality and increase yeilds.
